Villa La Chiusa dates back to the 15th century and was conceived as a summer retreat for the Giani family, who were distinguished in Lucca for having founded the city first charity hospital. Located outside Lucca's eastern gate, the villa now finds itself virtually in town, offering double benefit of a peaceful walled haven and the proximity to the city. Antique furnishings and artworks are in evidence throughout the Villa which has been also modernised into a comfortable family home. The large well-tended garden is graced with a beautiful round swimming pool. Villa La Chiusa can accommodate 12 people in 6 fully air conditioned bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. Ancient stone walls surround this park-like garden planted with persimmon fruit trees, roses, wisterias and grapevines. Daily housekeeping is included and chef is available for dinners. The owner keeps for herself a separate smaller house at the far corner of the garden, not visible from the main building. The ground floor is composed by a public room which open out to the terrace and garden, a kitchen, a the living room equipped with a baby grand piano and numerous armchairs and comfortable sofas, a separate study with sofa and fireplace, two bedrooms (one double and one twin) and two shower bathrooms. An extra bed is available for a child. From the ground floor a staircase brings up to the first level and into the most elegant lounge room. There are four double bedrooms and three shower bathrooms, one with a large jacuzzi tub. In the outside areas a private garden with pool and parking and a equipped area for dining al fresco. The security deposit is payable cash directly to the owner upon arrival. The rental price includes a welcome dinner, pool and garden maintenance, concierge service and maid daily service, five hours a day, six days a week. A chef and a sommelier are available and payable locally. Telephone will be charged on consumption. Wireless internet is free of charge. Two very friendly dogs live in the property, but no other pets are allowed. The caretaker lives in an other independent house within the property. The Villa can be rented also for a lower number of people and price will be calculated accordingly.
